Senior Accountant (Toronto)

Now, WOW is starting a new, innovative, multi-platform division based in Toronto to launch our ‘kidult’ brand and we’re looking for talented individuals to join our team.  If you are an accounting whiz, with experience in building financial models AND you also love TV, movies, videogames and/or digital content (ie: Twitch, YouTube) then we want to hear from you!

Job Description:

Responsible for all finance and accounting functions for WOW’s new multi-platform division. Reports to SVP & General Manger of the division and CFO of the corporate parent. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual who is hands-on and wants to take their 3 – 5 years of experience to a new level. 


  • Accounting designation; CPA
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working in a corporate environment
  • Broad knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) including financial reporting.
  • Broadcast or production experience a +


  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Maintain General Ledger
  • Compilation of quarterly financial statements in accordance with IFRS[A2]
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Manage Canadian Production Expenditures (CPE) as required by CRTC Conditions of License for the new cable TV channel
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, content expenditures, and contract negotiations
  • Other duties as required

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc…), office, and Power Point
  • Flexible, self-starter who is keen to be immersed in an agile, team-based environment focused
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well organized (procedures, processes, multi-tasking, prioritizing)
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Ability to research and report on relevant issues and/or changes
